The Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) welcomes today’s announcement of the new Albanese Government Ministry and congratulates all incoming Ministers on their appointments.
As the national voice of Australia’s civil construction industry, CCF looks forward to working closely with the reappointed and new Ministers to advance shared priorities that are critical to Australia’s economic growth, community wellbeing, and future resilience.

Key among these are:

  • Tackling the ongoing skills shortage impacting the delivery of essential civil infrastructure projects;
  • Enabling the renewable energy transition through investment in grid-ready infrastructure and regional connectivity; and
  • Unlocking new housing opportunities by prioritising the civil works that make land ready for development, including roads, water, sewerage and stormwater infrastructure.

We also acknowledge the appointment of Senator the Hon Murray Watt as Minister for the Environment and Water, following his strong leadership in the Industrial Relations portfolio. CCF looks forward to collaborating with Minister Watt on improving environmental approvals and advancing water infrastructure projects that support growth and resilience in communities across Australia.

The CCF look forward to working with new Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations; Minister Rishworth to progress the National Construction Industry Forum (NCIF) Blueprint, supporting practical reforms to improve workplace relations across the construction sector.

CCF National CEO Nicholas Proud said he is “optimistic about the opportunities to work with the new Ministry on policies that strengthen the Australian civil industry and deliver lasting benefits for all Australians.

“Civil contractors are on the ground every day building the infrastructure that makes housing possible, powers our clean energy future, and connects our communities,” Mr Proud said.

“We look forward to working with the new Ministers to ensure the right policy settings and funding arrangements are in place to support the critical work our sector delivers—particularly around workforce development, procurement reform and investment in enabling infrastructure.”

“With a clear focus on outcomes and collaboration, we can help the Government deliver on its national priorities and ensure the civil construction industry remains strong, sustainable and productive.”
