1 Introduction
This Privacy Policy covers the Website with the domain name www.civilcontractors.com (Website) that is operated by the Civil Contractors Federation.

In using this Website, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.  If you do not accept the terms of this Privacy Policy, you must not use this Website.  These Terms must be read in conjunction with any other applicable terms and conditions (including our Website Terms of Use governing the use of this Website.

2 Terminology
In this Privacy Policy:

• the terms “we”, “us” and “our” are a reference to the Civil Contractors Federation;
• the terms “user”, ”guest” ,“you” or “your” are a reference to a person visiting this website, including as a participant in any of the discussion forums hosted on this website (whether as a Member or as a reader); and
• the term “Member” is a reference to a person who is registered to participate in any of the discussion forums hosted on this Website as a contributor.

3 General
If you are under the age of 18 years old, please do not attempt to register as a Member of this Website or provide personal information about you to us. If you believe that we might have any personal information about a person who is under 18 years old please contact us.  We reserve the right to remove from the Website any personal information about persons whom we believe are under 18 years old.

This Privacy  Policy describes how we will deal with personally identifiable information that we collect or hold related to the content and use of this Website in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If users access the Website from outside Australia they accept responsibility for ensuring or confirming compliance with all laws in that jurisdiction that apply to them as a result of that access or any consequent transactions or dealings with us, the Website or other users.
In the course of your registering as a Member of the Website, we collect personal information about you.  It is our intention to collect, use, store and disclose personal information in a fair and responsible manner that respects privacy and confidentiality principles.

We have security procedures in place to protect personal information from misuse and loss, and from being seen, changed or disclosed by people who are not authorised to do so. We endeavour to ensure that information is accurate and up-to-date.
Individuals have the right of access to information held about them and to have records amended if the information is incorrect, incomplete, out-of-date or misleading.
Care is taken to protect Members' personal information from misuse when publishing information on the Website.

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot control the actions of other users with whom you share your information. We cannot guarantee that only authorised persons will access or view your personal information.

We cannot ensure that information you share on the Website will not become publicly available. We are not responsible for third party circumvention of security measures on the Website. Personal information you supply online may be used by our staff in conducting our business. Such uses include matters related to, but not limited to:

• helping other Members find you;
• invitations to connect another user to your profile;

• offering joint services with other companies;
• responding to legal requests and preventing harm; and
• downloadable software.

• uses for the purposes for which it was collected;
• where you have consented to the use or disclosure;
• to maintain our relationship with you;

When you access the Website from a computer, mobile phone, or other device, we may make a record of your visit and logs for statistical and business purposes and we may collect information including: the user’s server address, the user’s domain name, IP address, the date and time of visit, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and the type of browser used.

We may also track some of the actions you take on the Website such as when you provide information or content to us. If you are not a Member and you send us a message, we may record your email message.

We use "cookies" (small pieces of data we store for an extended period of time on your computer, mobile phone, or other device) to make the Website easier to use, to make our advertising better, and to protect both you and the secure areas of the Website. For example, we use cookies to store your login ID (but never your password) to make it easier for you to login whenever you come back to the Website. We also use them to confirm that you are logged into the Website, and to know when you are interacting on the Website. You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases that may impact your ability to use the secure areas on the Website.

7 Sharing Information on the Website
This Website has been designed to make it easy for you to find and connect with other Members of the Website. 

We ask for your date of birth to verify that you are 18 or older, and so that we can better limit your access to content and advertisements that are not age appropriate.  Because your date of birth and gender are required, you cannot delete them. 

Even after you remove information from your profile or delete your account, copies of that information may remain viewable elsewhere to the extent it has been shared with others or it was copied or stored by other users.

You understand that information might be re-shared or copied by other users.

Certain types of communications that you send to other users cannot be removed from their systems.

If you use an external source to publish information on the Website (such as a mobile application or a Connect site), you should check the privacy setting for that post, as it is set by that external source.

8 Removing information or your profile
Members can change or remove information about their profile at any time by going to their profile page and clicking “Edit my Profile”. Information will be updated immediately.

Members can request to deactivate their profile at anytime by contacting the relevant branch’s Membership Services Advisor.

We may retain certain information to prevent identity theft and other misconduct even if deletion has been requested.
Removed and deleted information may persist in backup copies for up to 90 days, but will not be available to others.

9 External links
Where the Website contains links to other websites, we do not control those websites, and we are not responsible for the privacy practices of the content of such websites. We do not take responsibility for the content in, or currency of, any externally linked sites. The inclusion of any link within the Website does not imply endorsement by us of the linked site, nor does it suggest any relationship with the organisation linked.

10 Data Quality/Access
We will always try to maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date information regarding our Members. The necessary procedures are in place to facilitate amendments and verification of personal information. If you think that your personal information retained by us requires changing, please contact your relevant Branch Membership Services Advisor.

Members are required to enter their username and password to visit secure areas on the Website. This is to ensure that the information is displayed only to the intended person. You should ensure that your password is kept securely and cannot be discovered by anyone else.

We may change this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make changes to this Privacy Policy we will notify you by publication here.
