CCF WA Skill Centre Officially Opened
CCF WA's new Skill Centre was officially opened on Friday 10th February by Senator the Hon Chris Evans, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research
Minister Evans said “Trainees will have access to cutting-edge, up to the minute technology - they will be able to develop practical construction skills using simulators that mimic real life situations.”
We thank the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations for their funding commitment of $1.766 million and the Western Australian Department of Training and Workforce Development for their administration of the grant.
We want to again thank our members and sponsors for their ongoing commitment to CCF WA and our Skill Centre project. It is the culmination of several years of effort by Civil Train and has provided us with a substantial platform from which to continue to serve our members' needs. Three state of the art simulators proved a big attraction amongst the 85 attendees.
Special guests at the event included numerous contractor members and our event sponsors WesTrac, Stellar Recruitment, Lavan Legal and OAMPS. Branch gold partners Ledge Finance and industry partners Construction Training Fund, Skill Hire and Dial Before You Dig were also represented at the opening.
CCF WA immediate past president Peter Rowles who played an instrumental role in the project, including managing the construction phase summed it up best saying "this is one of CCF WA's most important days in it's history.”
