Incoming CCF ACT Branch President To Represent Local Industry In Standards and Specifications Review

Incoming CCF-ACT Branch President, Andrew Compton will be representing the local industry in the first stages of a review of ACT Standards and Specifications that have thus far been used to achieve satisfactory outcomes in the delivery of construction in the Territory.

Roads ACT have determined that new technological advances and developments, and the adoption of new design criteria and standards, make it necessary to undertake the review as old specifications and standards are either obsolete or outdated by new requirements.

The objective of the review is to update the Territory’s standards and specifications in line with relevant national standards and specifications adopted by the RTA.   It is about consistency and particularly a holistic approach to addressing cross-border issues which is a frequent concern for local industry.

The initial stages of the review will concentrate on pavement design, public lighting, bridges and related structures, stormwater and traffic control devices.   It is expected this review will be completed by mid 2012.
