Play the video to see all of the National Winners in the CCF Earth Awards 2008 THE CCF EARTH AWARDS 2009 The CCF Earth Awards have the specific aim of recognising and rewarding Excellence in Civil Construction. The Earth Awards are designed to highlight:
• Construction Technique • Environmental Management • Project Management Projects are split into a range of categories which reflect the general break-up of work done in the civil construction sector:
• Category One – project value up to $1 million • Category Two – $1 million to $5 million • Category Three – $5 million to $20 million • Category Four – $20 million to $75 million • Category Five – more than $75 million ELIGIBILITY1. A project is eligible for the Earth Awards if it is completed in the 12 months to March 31 or substantially complete at March 31 in the year of the awards. 2. The awards are open to all Australian civil construction and related projects and may be from a single Contractor and or a Joint Entry involving Contractor / Client / Consultant / Designer etc. (If a Joint Entry is received, it must include the Contractor on the project.) 3. Also aid projects (only), being undertaken by CCF members (only) in the Asia/Pacific region. (Companies entering these projects will be required to assist in travel costs for judging.) 4. Entries must be received at the appropriate Branch Office by May 31. (Entries received after this date, may be considered for the following year’s Awards, provided they satisfy point 1 above.)
HOW TO ENTER (Category 1 & 2 entrants may provide a dot point summary only, for all sections other than the Project Overview.) Guide to Preparing a Submission
Entry to the 2009 CCF Earth Awards is through your local CCF Branch.
First entrants will be asked to complete the Preliminary Checklist.
This can be done in conjunction with the Earth Awards coordinator in your local CCF Branch before moving on to the entry proper.
Although suggested word counts in the Guide are maxima only, Entrants are encouraged to follow the guide closely to assist the judging process. Entries which depart radically from the criteria or fail to answer the specific information requested may be disregarded. Project Overview This section (to be completed by all entrants) should include a summary of up to 1,000 words of the project that succinctly describes the project and its most noteworthy features. It should address all of the key aspects covered in the remainder of the submission.
It might help if this section was the last to be completed.
Entry submissions must supply:
• Project name – as would appear on an Award certificate • Name of Entrant – if an Alliance then the name of the companies that make up the Alliance, if joint entrants then clearly identify the companies involved. To assist companies complete their submission CCF provides a Word document / PowerPoint template which outlines the required submission headings.
More specifically it should include:
• Project name • Role of company • Role and names of consultants and principal – where an entry is from more than one party, the entry should clearly state the names of all of the partners involved • Project description, including type, size, total cost, impact on community and project specific actions relevant to the evaluation criteria • Concise and specific details of the project cost and timing schedule (including completion date) • Client requirements, which should be limited to major considerations • Where relevant - a statement from the client on how well the project met its needs, time requirements and budget constraints • Description of features and solutions that indicate meritorious and/or innovative construction and/or environmental solutions, as distinguished from what would be regarded as standard construction practice and professional competence Photographs / Video Wherever possible / practicable, entrants should support their entry with photographs of video material which demonstrate the progress of the project. I.e. before, during and after.
Note: The Executive Summary describing the project and it’s most noteworthy features, is used for promotional purposes; including media releases and more importantly in the presentation of the Awards at the various Branch and National dinners.
A detailed but easy to follow set of documents has been assembled to help people enter the Awards and complete an:ENTRY FEES Entry Fees are invoiced by and paid directly to the respective Branches. It remains as Branch income, to assist with the cost of Branch Earth Awards Operations (e.g. Judging costs).
